Data breach check for businesses

Do credentials for your company mailboxes appear in a data breach?

Check up to five company email addresses per month free of charge – with the name of the breach, the year and the data affected. No payment details, no minimum term.

Employees sign up to portals, shops and online services with their company address. If one of these services is attacked, the address and password end up in collections that are passed on for years. Such credentials are the starting point for fake invoices, payment instructions “from the boss” and replies inserted into genuine email threads. Only the check shows whether your company is affected – we have not carried it out in advance.

How it works

Create company account

Name, company, email address – that is all it takes. No payment details, no minimum term.

Enter addresses

Start with the mailboxes used for invoices, orders and banking.

Read the result

For each address, you can see whether it appears in a known data breach – with the name of the breach, the year and the type of data affected.

Replace passwords

Change the affected passwords, switch on two-step sign-in and check the forwarding rules in the mailbox.

For businesses

From a single address to the whole domain.

The free initial check shows the status of individual addresses. In the company plans, we monitor the entire company domain on an ongoing basis and notify you as soon as an address appears in a new breach.

Domain & mailboxes

After verification of domain ownership, we check addresses of your domain against known data leaks and show affected leaks, data classes and address counts.

Monitor domain

Password check

The check runs entirely in your browser. Your password is not transmitted to us, not stored and not logged.

Advertising calls & advertising e-mails

Check unknown numbers, document advertising e-mails, manage objections – the same workspace, the same evidence.

Where the results come from

Comparison against the known data breaches.

We compare the addresses you enter against the database of Have I Been Pwned, the internationally recognised collection of known data breaches. Passwords are neither queried nor displayed in the process – you see which breach an address appears in and which types of data are affected.

Who we are

A private service. Not a public authority.

Zentrale Datenschutzstelle is a private-sector data protection service. If we have written to you, we did so once only, using contact details from publicly accessible sources such as your company website. We have not checked whether your company is affected. We will delete your data on request – the unsubscribe link is included in every email. Questions: kontakt@zentrale-datenschutzstelle.de.

Frequently asked questions

Questions from businesses that have been contacted.

Why did you write to me – am I affected?

We do not know. We have not checked your company, and we do not claim to have done so. We informed you once about the option of the free check; your contact details come from publicly accessible sources such as your company website. We will delete them via the unsubscribe link in the email.

How do company addresses end up in a data breach?

Usually not through an attack on your company, but on a service where someone signed up with their company address – a portal, a shop, a forum, a piece of software. If that service is attacked, the address and often the password as well end up in collections that are passed on for years.

What do I see after the check?

For each address checked: whether it appears in a known data breach, what the breach is called, which year it dates from and which types of data are affected – such as passwords, telephone numbers or postal addresses. We do not display the passwords themselves, nor do we receive them.

What should I do if an address is affected?

Change the password of the mailbox and of all services where the same password was used, and switch on two-step sign-in wherever possible. If the mailbox concerned is used for invoices or banking, you should also check the mailbox’s forwarding rules.

What does it cost?

The free initial check with up to five checks per month costs nothing – no payment details and no minimum term. Ongoing monitoring of entire company domains, with notification of new breaches, is part of the company plans – see Prices.
